Ten Random Facts about the Starlight Saga ~ #StarlightSaga

Starlight Saga Banner 1

Today author Sherry Soule is visiting with us to talk about her popular paranormal romance series, the Starlight Saga. She writes in a totally different hot steamy corner of the YA paranormal romance world than I do, and it is totally a corner worth peaking into!

She has been gracious enough to do this fun guest post to share the book love with fellow readers. Be warned, these books have scorching-hot romance!

Also giveaway alert! To celebrate the October paranormal author’s tour I’m hosting seven days of ebook giveaways, including 2 copies of Sherry Soule’s Lost in Starlight. Check out the giveaway page for more info!

So here you go, folks! Sherry Soule presents her top ten random facts about the Starlight Saga!

1.) I believe in the paranormal genre that aliens and science fiction type stories are going to be the next big thing. Add a little romance…even better. Vampires had their time, werewolves are overworked, and even though zombies are still going strong, I think extraterrestrials need some love now, too.

2.) In my novel, LOST IN STARLIGHT, the storyline revolves around the two main characters trying to overcome major obstacles to be together. It’s like an intergalactic version of Romeo and Juliet, with steamy character chemistry right from the beginning. Hayden and Sloane share a strong attraction and become best friends, which make the best kind of love stories in my humble opinion.

3.) From the very first draft, I wanted to add something unique and special to Sloane’s quirky character. Thus, FRIGHT NIGHT BABBLE, her online newspaper column was born. I think the short, humorous posts every few chapters adds a fun element to the narrative.

4.) The island that the characters live on is actually a real place within the San Francisco Bay Area. Although the name Grimm Haven is fictional, the actual island is called Alameda, and it’s a lovely city to visit. I would love to live there! The island is adjacent to Oakland in the East Bay.

5.) LOST IN STARLIGHT is the fastest book that I’ve ever written. It took me only about four months to write and do revisions. I had the idea in the back of my mind for about a year, but it wasn’t until a short-lived TV show called “Star-Crossed” convinced me that alien love stories would be fun to write about.

6.) The Starlight Saga is a trilogy; unless of course, readers clamor for more Sloane and Hayden adventures. Then I’ll happily keep writing more novels featuring this quirky and lovable cast of characters.

7.) Sloane is by far my favorite character. She is snarky and quirky. Most authors admit that a little bit of themselves goes into each protagonist, but Sloane is near and dear to my heart. If a headstrong, gutsy, and imperfect heroine with an eccentric fashion sense appeals to you, then I think you’ll love Sloane, too.

8.) In LOST IN STARLIGHT, there isn’t the insta-love or love triangle that is so popular in YA books nowadays. This is the real deal. The book is meant for older YA readers and does contain some mild language.

9.) The names of the two main characters came to me instantly. They just seemed to fit perfectly. Some of the secondary characters had a few name changes during rewrites, but Sloane and Hayden’s never varied.

10.) One day, I was browsing images on a stock photo site and as soon as I saw the image of that boy on the cover, I just knew that I’d found my “Hayden.” The photo also inspired me to make Sloane different than most YA heroines.

So there you have it, folks. Ten random facts about the Starlight Saga. Here’s the cover (Hayden’s a total babe, right?) and below, a short excerpt.

High school is tough. Crushing on a gorgeous, social outcast? Even tougher.

School reporter Sloane Masterson knows she has one helluva story when she witnesses hottie Hayden Lancaster bending forks with his mind.

Like any good journalist, Sloane sets out to uncover the truth, even if it includes a little stalking. When the superhuman feats start to pile up and Hayden’s intergalactic enemies come for unexpected visit, he has no choice but to reveal his darkest secrets.

Yet even at Hayden’s insistence that dating each other is “off limits” and dangerous, their fiery attraction threatens to go supernova. But if they follow their hearts, there will be deadly consequences, and Sloane’s memories could be permanently erased.

Now Sloane must make a choice to either protect herself…or forget the boy she loves forever.

Do you believe in destiny, Hayden?” I ask.

I do now…but before I met you, I didn’t think there was any such thing as love-at-first-sight, or one person for everyone, or a soulmate. But when I’m near you, I think…I might be wrong.” His expression softens, and he runs his thumb across my bottom lip, causing the blood to sear in my veins. “You know what I believe now? That the universe has no conscious will, only inevitabilities, and it was inevitable that we should be together. It was fated—written in the stars—that no matter what, I’ll never stop trying to make you happy or wanting to keep you safe. I am lost in you, with no desire to escape.”

Thank you to the lovely Sherry Soule for sharing bits of her steamy novel with us. If you’d like to learn more about the book and about Sherry, you are in luck! All the links and information you need is right here. Thank you, dear readers, for stopping by and have a lovely day.
